Anni Blog February 1, 2016

Hello to All! One month gone already in the New Year… and I’m still waitin’ on some REAL snow here in southern Maine. I’ve been out cross country skiin’ once, snowshoein’ 3 times… seein’ as it’s February now, that’s pretty freaky; hence, “Freaky February”… maybe that’ll change soon. I’ll be interested to see what’s up with Punxsutawney Phil on Feb. 2nd! The other freakiness is this: I am still trying to figure out exactly what’s causing me to have continued facial numbness, mostly around my lips & under my nose… & I continue to have cold-like symptoms, sinus & chest discomfort, earaches on & off & an occasional sore throat. NOTHING will keep me from playing my show at JJ’s Friday night, Feb. 5th, however! I will totally lose my mind if I don’t get out to play a gig! I am mostly in good voice… if the gravel is there on Friday, I’ll play more blues tunes. Meanwhile, my left hand is recuperating a little bit at a time… I am getting closer to playing the way I played prior to tendon surgery last September. Tendons take their own time… no way to rush them… I just keep playin’ my guitar & watchin’ for small improvements. I am thankful for every small step forward. Here’s the scoop:

FRIDAY / FEBRUARY 5th / JJ’S EATERY / OLD ORCHARD BEACH ME / 6:30PM / 207-934-0222… JJ’s has been a local favorite for years. Heck, some folks drive a long way to get to JJ’s to hear good music & eat good food in a down home atmosphere with friendly staff & lots of local cullah. I always have a fun night here. Recently, Jeannie (the owner some refer to as “MA”) made the difficult decision to open for only 3 days a week in January & February, as business was a tad slow. This made some of us a bit anxious… JJ’s has been open 7 days a week for 3 meals a day for like, ever! Anyway, on Leap Day (yes, it’s a leap year folks) JJ’s goes back to regular hours & the regulars are REALLY happy about that! Me… well, I am wicked psyched to know I get to perform there again on February 5th. I’d LOVE IT if a bunch of you can make this one, as there are big holes between shows right now… & you’ll be helping a great local biz as well… so come early & stay late! Here’s their [website].

I’m not a great sick person. Who is? I am usually the picture of perfect health… I go to the gym, eat really good, nutritious food, watch my weight, get outside whenever I can, try to think good thoughts & spread kindness… all of which contributes to inner & outer well being, right? Well somehow, I am battling something way beyond my grasp & it’s trying to kick my butt & pull me down. I’ve been “not myself” since early October. Trust me, I have been through a long list of tests, asked billions of questions, been on the internet, on the phone, in every kind of doctor’s office you might think of… but the diagnosis is still hazy. I need to do something to allow me to see some light at the end of what has become a long tunnel.

So… I booked a flight to Tucson AZ to see my good friend Judi in April! AND, I’m playing some shows while I’m out there! I am also going to make the trip over to Sedona… a place I’ve heard so much about that I feel drawn to it in a big way. I trust the vortex of healing there is just what I need.

Judi used to work in the same school with me in Saco ME, but she moved to Tucson a few years back. We have this magical artistic connection… and I wrote a song about it when she left Maine. I thought it might be fun to share that song with you (perhaps again?)… I recorded it on YouTube & sent her the link not long after she left Maine. There’s a line in it that states “I’ll meet you in the desert & you’ll meet me by the sea”… well, Judi’s been back to the coast of Maine many times since she moved, but I have not been to Tucson yet… so, it’s time.

Thanks to my friend Debbie Whorf for capturing this on my iPhone on a picture perfect day up on Moosehead Lake. That’s “BG” I’m playin’… short for “Baby Guitar”… my awesome $100 Fender I got not long before we shot this. Watching this brings me back to a very special day & reminds me I have really good friends. This makes me feel less sick & helps me to see that light at the end of the tunnel.

Enjoy the tune & the nice views...

I’ll be hoping I see you at JJ’s this month or down the road elsewhere very soon. Thanks for tuning in & for sending good vibes my way.
